Dear Families,
At the last school assembly, we recognized students who displayed the character trait, empathy. Congratulations to Evie, Maitri, Georgia and Cooper for being honoured with a certificate!  They  are supportive classmates who reflect all the children's efforts in making our classroom a positive and caring place to learn.
During this week, we have been writing about our trip to Colbourne Lodge; the children enjoyed visiting the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard and learning about what it was like to live over 100 years ago. Thank you to the parents who volunteered and came with us on our first trip.
Enjoying some apple cider and cookies in the summer kitchen.

The children have been sharing their family celebration pages with the class; we have also discussed the Annette St. PS tradition of giving to a charity during the holiday season. The school is collecting new hats and mittens for a local women's shelter until the end of next week. The children would like your support in continuing a classroom tradition to adopt an animal through the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).  Through this symbolic adoption, we would be helping WWF protect a variety of at risk animals and the habitats they call home. If each child could bring in a small donation ( i.e. a toonie ) that would help us continue this classroom tradition that reflects the spirit of giving to others during the holidays.
Next week, we will be continuing to learn about different cultures, traditions and celebrations in our community.
As part of this unit, we will be making a "Friendship Fruit Salad."
Please send one fruit to school with your child on Monday, December 15th. The fruit can be something common like an orange or apple, or something different like a papaya or mango.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
