Dear Parents,
This past month, as a school, we recognized students who displayed the character trait, responsibility. Congratulations to Aaron and Alyssa for being honoured at the school assembly with a certificate! They are caring and positive members of our class. Aaron and Alyssa willingly take on responsibilities, such as tidying up materials and can be depended on helping classmates in need.
This week the children and I have been discussing and reading books about Remembrance Day. Our focus has been on ensuring that we value the contributions made by people, in the past and present, towards creating a peaceful and caring world. We are creating an art display of a world and people surrounding it with messages of peace to display our learning. There will be an assembly on Friday, November 11th, for the school and the children are creating a poppy wreath to help decorate the gym. Please share with your child any related family stories or experiences that you feel are appropriate for their age to further help them connect this day to their own lives.
Next Tuesday a progress report will be sent home with your child. In this week's mail folder is a letter discussing the reporting process and on the reverse side is an opportunity for you to request a conference for next Thursday evening or Friday morning. The library will also be open during the conference times for the Scholastic Book Fair; during this time, you can purchase books at a reasonable cost while also supporting the library (a portion of each sale is donated to our school).
Please remember that all trip forms and the fee of $7.50 are due back by early next week. Parent volunteers are welcome on this trip.
Thank you for your support,
Toula Masellas
