Dear Families,
Artist and storyteller, Diana Tso, has been working with the children in Rooms 204 over several days this month. During her visits, the children explored dragon mythology and Chinese storytelling through drama and dance. We each created our own little dragon puppets out of the recycled items donated to the class. Each dragon was given a name, a magical land where it lives and special powers by the student who created it; these stories where shared with the class while each dragon flew and twirled around our sharing circle.
We have also started to learn to retell the story of Sister Lace and have created our own dragon song for the end of our play. We will let you know soon when we will be ready to perform our retelling of the Sister Lace story!
However, you will have a chance to meet our dragons soon...

The students in Room 203 and 204 have been asked by the parent council to perform a parade with our puppets and sing the songs we have written on the night of the Heritage Dinner. The students are very excited to be sharing their creations with their families on this evening.
The Heritage Dinner is in the gym on Thursday, April 24 between 6:00 and 8:30 pm. Students must be supervised by a parent during this evening. We will begin the parade at 6:45 pm and the performance will be approximately 15 minutes. Please ensure that you and your child are able to meet us in the gym by 6:30pm.
Please have your child wear red or gold if possible.
We hope to see everyone there. It should be a fun evening of yummy food and dragon dancing!

Thank you to the Annette Parent Council and the Ontario Arts Council for funding these special dragon workshops!

Tuesday, April 22 is Earth Day and TDSB clean up day.  Weather permitting, the primary classes will celebrate Earth Day by taking a walk along the Wendago Buried River path, which goes from our school property through the staff parking lot and then down to Ravina Park.  The River Walk will start after lunch.  Children are encouraged to wear brown and green on this day.

Thank you for all your support and encouragement.
